Gerrard made the comments following Rangers’ 3-0 win against Livingston at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Arfield started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and Rangers manager Gerrard was impressed with the display produced by the 30-year-old midfield.
The Liverpool legend has outlined the importance of the Canada international to his team, and has said that the Gers were desperate to sign the former Burnley star in the summer transfer window.
Gerrard told Rangers’ official website: “Scott too has been superb. He is a great professional and a great lad who is growing each way and contributing really well.
“He is a really important player and that is the reason we were desperate to get him in the door.”

Important player
Arfield joined Rangers in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League club Burnley at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the Canada international midfielder has scored four goals and provided four assists in 10 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far this season.
The Gers are second in the league table at the moment with 27 points from 13 matches, just two points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.
