Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has spoken highly of Glen Kamara to The Herald.

Gerrard has been impressed with how Kamara has played for Rangers since his move from Dundee in the January transfer window.

Kamara originally signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers in the January transfer window, and was supposed to join the Gers in the summer of 2019 after leaving Dundee at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old midfielder would have joined Rangers on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, but the Gers paid Dundee a transfer fee of £100,000 – as reported by The Scottish Sun – in order to secure his services last month.

Gerrard has praised Kamara for the way he performed for Rangers against St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership and against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup fifth-round replay.

Gerrard told The Herald about Kamara: “Glen was one of the few who stood out against St Johnstone and he went about his business really well. It was a strong debut but it was lost in such a poor performance around him.

“But I told him in the dressing room I was pleased with his debut and that he looked very comfortable and looked like a Rangers player despite us drawing the game.”

The Liverpool legend added: “He’s a terrific footballer in possession, always playing with his head up and looking to connect defence and attack. But what pleased me most is what I spoke about when we signed him in terms of how he’ll be out of possession.

“Will he hunt the ball back, be aggressive, work hard for the team and be a monster in the middle of the park? He showed signs of that against Kilmarnock and potentially he can become a top midfielder.”

Back in action
