Rangers manager Steven Gerrard played with Jordan Henderson at Liverpool.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
The Liverpool legend has been impressed with the leadership skills shown by Henderson at Liverpool, and hopes that the 28-year-old England international guides the Reds to the Premier League title this season.
Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, played with the former Sunderland star at Liverpool and for the England national football team.
Gerrard told The Times about Henderson: “He has already shown signs of great leadership. He’s very selfless. It will be wonderful for him if he manages to get his team over the line.”

Important player
Henderson has been on the books of Liverpool since the summer of 2011 when he joined from Sunderland.
The 28-year-old has improved steadily since then and is now an important player in manager Jurgen Klopp’s team.
However, there was a point in his Liverpool career that Henderson wanted to leave Anfield.
In July 2018, Brendan Rodgers – then the manager of Celtic and now in charge of Leicester City in the Premier League – revealed to The Telegraph that he convinced Henderson not to leave Liverpool in 2015 by making him the club’s captain.
