Premier League striker Jermain Defoe has reunited with former England teammate Steven Gerrard at Rangers

Steven Gerrard has waxed-lyrical about new Rangers signing Jermain Defoe by stating he is ‘an exceptionally talented striker’.
The Gers confirmed on their official website that the Bournemouth player has penned an 18-month loan deal with the Scottish Premiership side subject to international clearance.
The 36-year-old reunites with Gerrard having played alongside the Liverpool legend during their time with the England national team.
After the deal for Defoe was confirmed, Gerrard offered his thoughts on the player as he sung his praises and explained what he will bring to the team.
“I’m delighted to be able to welcome Jermain to Rangers,” Gerrard told the club’s official website. “He is an exceptionally talented striker and vastly experienced footballer who has scored goals at every club he has played for.
“He will be a great addition to our dressing room and we look forward to integrating him into the squad whilst we work in Tenerife over the next week.”
During his career, Defoe played for a number of high-profile Premier League clubs, most notably his successful spell at Tottenham Hotspur during the noughties.

In England’s top-flight, Defoe found the back of the net on an incredible 163 occasions as he will be looking to build his goal tally in Scotland.
Most of those goals came in north London, for Spurs, where he played 360 games in all competitions, scoring an impressive 142 goals for the club.
Gerrard’s side are aiming to lift the Scottish Premiership title in his first season in charge as they are currently level on points with leaders Celtic in the table – the Gers beat their Old Firm rivals 1-0 prior to the winter break.
