Rangers eased to a win, but Steven Gerrard wasn’t completely happy.
Rangers outclassed Ross County on Wednesday night, winning 4-0 away from home.
Manager Steven Gerrard was largely pleased with the performance, but not completely.
Gerrard said he was unhappy with how the team took their foot off the gas and let their performance slip.
Speaking to Rangers’ official website, Gerrard said: “I thought we got sloppy in the last 20 minutes – the game is won, but I want the standards to remain the same because goal difference could be important and I don’t want us putting ourselves where we are risking injury and taking too many touches and slowing things down so we need to just remain with the same standards all the way through.
“But in the main, it was a very strong performance.”
The goal difference point is a valid one, they are neck and neck with Celtic at the top of the table and Rangers should not leave anything to chance.
Gerrard has consistently pushed this message, that the team keep up the same high standards throughout.
It is only natural that they might ease off, so it’s up to Gerrard to remind his players again of his demands.
Rangers have a semi-final to prepare for now at the weekend and this win was an ideal warm up. While it could have been a tricky fixture, the Gers made it look like light work.
