Barring any unforeseen twists, Steven Gerrard will be the Liverpool manager one day.
It’s not a bold claim. Jurgen Klopp himself has even stated that Gerrard will ‘definitely’ manage the Reds at some point and many believe that he’s going to get the job directly after Klopp.
As committed as Gerrard is to Aston Villa at the moment, there’s an air of inevitability around a managerial move to Anfield in a few years’ time , and he could make his future role a lot easier this summer.
Indeed, according to numerous reports, Liverpool hold an interest in Aston Villa wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka, and if Gerrard were to sell the teenager to the Reds, he could reap the benefits in years to come.

Of course, this is a very outlandish way to think about this proposed transfer, and, in all honesty, it’s probably something that hasn’t even crossed Gerrard’s mind.
However, it has to be said, if Gerrard does sell Chukwuemeka to Villa, he may well reunite with him in the future, and by the time that reunion happens, the midfielder should be hitting his peak.
If all goes to plan, Chukwuemeka should be one of the best midfielders in England by that point. After all, he’s incredibly highly-rated, Barcelona want him and he was the star of the Three Lions’ triumphant U19 Euros campaign this summer.
Just imagine how good he could be after a few years of tutelage from Jurgen Klopp – with that sort of coaching he could even surpass the incredibly high expectations that many have of him.
Losing Chukwuemeka to Liverpool would be a real blow for Gerrard and his current employers, but in a few years’ time when he’s ready to take the reins at Anfield, he may look back on this decision as a gift from his past self.
On a personal level, Gerrard could actually end up benefitting from selling Chukwuemeka to Liverpool.
