Glasgow Rangers reportedly wanted to bring Karlan Grant to Ibrox before he headed elsewhere during the January transfer window.

It was reported by The Scottish Sun during the January transfer window that Rangers wanted to sign Karlan Grant on a pre-contract deal as a potential future replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
Despite the Gers missing out, it appeared that Steven Gerrard had done some brilliant work in the transfer market during the month. Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis appeared to be inspired loan additions, while the likes of Glen Kamara and Matt Polster also arrived at Ibrox.
Meanwhile, Grant ended up sealing a move to the Premier League, with bottom side Huddersfield Town paying £2 million to sign the young striker (via The Sun).
Morelos has scored eight goals in as many games since the January window ended, while Defoe has scored five goals for the Gers since arriving at Ibrox.
With Grant going into the weekend having only scored once for the Terriers, not signing the 21-year-old was probably not something that was keeping Gerrard awake at night.

But, after his latest performance, perhaps Rangers may soon begin to seriously rue not looking to sign the youngster immediately as he was outstanding at the weekend.
Huddersfield lost 4-3 to West Ham, but Grant was exceptional and scored twice as the Terriers nearly pulled off a brilliant win that would have given their slim survival hopes a real boost. His second goal in particular was superb as he found the top corner from outside the box.
It was the kind of display that suggests that spending £2 million on Grant will prove to be a masterstroke. And while Rangers’ problems right now are not with their strikers, Gerrard may still be kicking himself over not signing the January target.

Morelos’ future is not going to stop being a talking point anytime soon, and Defoe is obviously not the long-term answer, so Grant would have still been an excellent signing if his weekend performance is anything to go by.
Huddersfield fans are not going to see that Grant every single week when relegation appears to be a formality at this stage. But it looks to have the potential to be an outstanding piece of business – and it is perhaps one that Rangers should have done more to prevent happening.
