The Rangers winger looks to be on his way out of Ibrox.
The paper had reported earlier this weekend that the Albanian international was on his way to France to conclude a £1.75m deal with Ligue 1 club Brest, but that appears to have jumped the gun a bit.
Gerrard told The Sun: “We’ve had two or three loan requests for Eros but they don’t satisfy what we are looking for at the moment.”
Signed for a reported £2m (BBC) just last summer, recouping a fee for Grezda is vital and the Ibrox boss has made it clear the club won’t be accepting any cheap loan offers for the player just because he is out of favour.
The winger hasn’t been part of any pre-season plans at Rangers and has all but certainly played his last match for the club.
Gerrard spoke last week about how the player has talent, but would only be able to find it working under a different manager, describing his move from NK Osijek as “frustrating” for everyone involved.
Making just seven starts last season, Grezda will go down as one of the poorer signings in recent years and his lack of progress must serve as a lesson to the club on what to avoid when identifying talent.
Signing him while he was injured was a critical mistake, for starters. His fitness never really got up to scratch with niggling issues taking their toll throughout the season and setting him back.
Ultimately if the club can earn as much as The Sun’s reported £1.75m for the player then not much harm has been done, but too many flop signings have left on the cheap in recent years and Grezda shouldn’t be one of them considering the initial fee involved in signing him.
Gerrard and the recruitment team at Ibrox rejecting loan offers is a good sign for Rangers fans that’s not on the cards.
