Glasgow Rangers defender Nikola Katic has impressed during the opening weeks of his second season at Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that Nikola Katic is an absolute dream to work with and made the confident prediction that he is going to get significantly better in the coming years.
Katic has been a key figure for the Gers since the latter weeks of last season. He had endured a difficult spell after arriving at Ibrox for £2 million last summer (fee reported by The Scottish Sun), and spent much of the campaign as Joe Worrall’s understudy.
However, he improved as the year went on and appears to have carried that form into this term, with his partnership with Connor Goldson continuing to develop nicely.
And while Gerrard admitted that the left-side of the defence were at fault for Hibernian’s goal in the 6-1 win at the weekend, he insisted that Katic is exactly the kind of player that he is delighted to have within his squad, and made a prediction about the Croatian’s potential.

“He’s a very mentally strong boy. He’s someone who won’t shy away when he’s made a mistake. If he has a bad performance, he’s very honest and open,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.
“I think that’s a really good sign if you want to develop and grow, when you analyse, don’t just look at the good stuff, really try and improve on some of your weaknesses as well. To work with, he’s an absolute dream. He’s so professional. He’s robust. He’ll run through a wall for you. And I predict that he’s going to get better and better.”

It is frightening to think that Katic is still just 22 years of age. The way that he has bounced back from a tough start to life in the Scottish Premiership and quickly established himself in Gerrard’s strongest lineup highlights his maturity and resilience.
And with the likes of George Edmundson and Filip Helander waiting in the wings, looking to grab the sort of opportunity that Katic took full advantage of towards the end of last season, Katic will have no intention of letting his form dip anytime soon.
