Steven Gerrard makes prediction about Celtic transfer business for rest of the summer

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side will be looking to strengthen even further over the rest of the summer.

Steven Gerrard has told BT Sport, during their live coverage of Celtic’s match against Astana on 16th August, that he expects the Bhoys to back Brendan Rodgers in the transfer window over the remainder of the summer.

Celtic effectively booked their qualification in to the Champions League last night, by beating Astana 5-0.

Brendan Rodgers side do still have to play a second leg before their progress into the Champions League group stages is confirmed, but their lead is surely an unassailable one now.

And Gerrard believes that Celtic will back Rodgers with funds now to complete some more transfer business.

“It’s definitely a step up, but they’ll be more equipped this season now,” the Liverpool legend said. “I’m sure the board will back Celtic even more now and try and back Brendan in key positions.”

Celtic have brought in Olivier Ntcham from Manchester City already this summer, and the midfielder has made a positive impact.

The Bhoys are keen to strengthen their squad further in the coming weeks, with Patrick Roberts said to be on Brendan Rodgers’ wish list by the Glasgow Evening Times.
