The Ibrox boss was discussing how he feels about his current Rangers squad.

Rangers Manager Steven Gerrard is seen during the Betfred League Cup semi final between Rangers and Heart of Midlothian at Hampden Park on November 03, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been discussing his happiness with the balance of his current squad at Ibrox, The Scottish Sun report.

Such is the nature of the football season, it seems like just yesterday that the summer transfer window was open and the Gers were looking to make serious additions to their title-chasing team.

We’re now not too far away from the January window opening and teams across Europe will already be identifying potential targets and discussing who is or isn’t available to sign.

For Rangers, there’s not too much work needing done to a squad that is competing well on all fronts under Gerrard.

However, Gerrard isn’t ruling out making changes despite being generally pleased with the balance of what’s on offer currently.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said: “I think we have the balance right. That’s not to say that we don’t want to add to it or adjust it, or change it from an addition point of view.

“At the same time, there will be people that go in a different direction to get football for their own piece of it.

“It will also be shaping it and adjusting it, but at the moment we have the balance right in terms of age.”

Where’s should Rangers’ priorities be?

Given the amount of goals that Gerrard’s side are scoring this season, there’s not much needing changed in the attacking areas.

Alfredo Morelos is on fire, Ryan Kent is reaching peak fitness again and they have others such as Jermain Defoe ready to come in and provide real depth.

The midfield is looking sharp too, with Ryan Jack and Steven Davis in superb form. That duo is often complemented well by others such as Glen Kamara or Joe Aribo.

It’s in defence that a little more depth, or different styles of players, could be useful. Could a more defensively minded right-back be signed to provide an alternative to James Tavernier if required? Should there be more robust back up for Borna Barisic?

Rangers are unlikely to be spending big in January, but a few tweaks throughout the squad could go a long way in the second half of the season.
