Glasgow Rangers were reportedly fearing that Graham Dorrans would not play for the Ibrox side for several months.

In comments reported by the club’s official website, Steven Gerrard has hinted that Graham Dorrans could be one of the Rangers players that returns from injury following the international break in what could undoubtedly be a major boost for the Gers.
Dorrans’ Ibrox career to date has been a disappointment. His excellent start following his move last summer was curtailed by injury, and he has been unable to enjoy a prolonged run in the team ever since, arguably returning slightly too early at the back end of last season.
And in August, several Rangers fans were somewhat writing off the 31-year-old ever enjoying a successful career with the Light Blues as he sustained another problem that the Daily Record suggested could keep him out for months rather than weeks.
But, Gerrard’s comments following the Gers’ first defeat of the season yesterday arguably hint that those recent assessments regarding how long he would be out for were actually wide of the mark.

“Some players will go away on international duty, and we hope they come back healthy. It is a chance for us to get [Lassana] Coulibaly fit, [Eros] Grezda fit and [Graham] Dorrans fit – players that will help us become better and stronger.”

Dorrans returning from injury will probably not provide the same boost that it did during the latter stages of last season when he was coming back from his first lengthy spell on the sidelines, even if he does return well ahead of the initial schedule.
But if the former Premier League midfielder can rediscover the form that he showed during his first few weeks in the Scottish Premiership last year and can prove that he can be relied upon fitness-wise, then it can arguably provide a massive lift at a time when Rangers need to get their momentum going again.
