Rangers take on St. Joseph’s at Ibrox this evening.

Rangers Manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the pre season friendly match between Rangers and Oxford United at Ibrox Stadium on July 07, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told The Scottish Sun that teenager Josh McPake is ‘in the plans’ to face St Joseph’s tonight.

The Gers lead 4-0 from the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie, after Ryan Jack, Sheyi Ojo, Borna Barisic and Alfredo Morelos scored in Gibraltar last week.

That huge lead means Rangers have the chance to tinker with their team, as the 4-0 advantage seems almost unassailable.

Gerrard may be tempted to give playing time to some younger players, and McPake appears to be at the front of the queue.

The 17-year-old has been touted for a huge future, and just signed a new contract after interest from Liverpool and Roma according to the Daily Record.

The winger has caps for Scotland at youth level, and has been dazzling fans with his displays for Rangers’ Under-18’s over the last year.

McPake didn’t play in the development game against Cambridge United earlier this week, and that left Rangers fans wondering just why that was the case.

Gerrard has now confirmed that he pulled McPake out of the game because he could play against St Joseph’s tonight, with a competitive debut potentially in the pipeine.

“I pulled Josh out of the game as he’s in the plans for tomorrow,” said Gerrard, though it’s unclear whether he’d be as a starter or as a substitute.
