Steven Gerrard has reportedly told ‘big game mentality’ Rangers player he can leave

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told Jordan Jones that he is not in his first-team plans, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that the Northern Ireland international winger has been told by Rangers that he can leave in the summer transfer window.

The report has added that the Gers made the 25-year-old winger available for loan in January as well.

Jones has spoken to Gerrard about his future and has been told that he is free to leave, according to The Daily Record, which has claimed that Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City all are interested in him.

Disappointing Rangers spell

Jones joined Rangers in the summer of 2019 on a free transfer after leaving Kilmarnock.

Much was expected of the winger when he arrived at Ibrox, with Rangers boss Gerrard telling The Scottish Sun in August 2019 that he has “a big game mentality”.

However, things have not worked out for the Northern Ireland international, with a serious knee injury affecting him.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Jones made seven appearances in the Scottish Premiership, and has played once each in the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup for Rangers last season.
