Rangers defender Joe Worrall, signed on loan from Nottingham Forest, made a mistake against Kilmarnock.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Worrall, who joined Rangers on loan from Forest in the Championship in England in the summer of 2018, was at fault for the first goal that Kilmarnock scored during their 2-1 win against the Gers in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.
Gerrard has backed the 22-year-old central defender to recover from the disappointment, and does not believe that the mistake against Kilmarnock is going to affect him in the long run.
Rangers defender James Tavernier has also said that he and his teammates are behind Worrall.
Gerrard told The Herald about Worrall: “Joe will be looking for some faith from me and his team-mates. He has bailed us out on numerous occasions to deserve that faith.
“He is man enough and has been around long enough, even though he’s still young, to know he is going to make mistakes. I don’t think he is an insecure boy, where that mistake might affect him long term.”
Tavernier told The Daily Record: “Joe held his hand up and we also said before the game that, on the surface, square passes might get intercepted and might cost us.”
The defender added: “You rally round. We are a team and we are in it to the end. Lads make mistakes during a season.”

Bouncing back
Worrall is a good central defender who will have learnt from his mistake against Kilmarnock, and the Rangers man can only get better.
True, the Forest-owned central defender has not exactly been great for the Gers so far this season, but he is still very young and is progressing and developing.
Rangers will face Livingston in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
