Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers drew 1-1 with Aberdeen last night, with Alfredo Morelos starting up-front.
Steven Gerrard has seen the good and bad of Glasgow Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos already.
Gerrard would have been watching Rangers’ match with Aberdeen last night with interest, after it was announced that he would be their manager for next season last week.
Morelos was selected to start in the contest, and he immediately showed Gerrard his strengths and his weaknesses.
The Colombian has enjoyed a fairly productive first season at Ibrox, but he has not been without his critics.
And Morelos once again showed that he must work on his finishing, if he is to become a true leading marksman for Rangers.
Morelos passed up a number of preventable opportunities in the 1-1 draw at Pittodrie, as his struggles in front of goals continued.
However, Gerrard must have bene impressed by the youngster’s work-rate, as Morelos’ desire to lead the line could not be questioned.
Gerrard now faces a big decision over Morelos’ Rangers future when he arrives in Glasgow.
The 21-year-old unquestionably has the potential to be a real threat in Scotland, but he remains a raw prospect.
And it remains to be seen whether Gerrard will have the patience to persevere with Morelos, or look to upgrade his strikers when he arrives at Ibrox.
