Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a “blessed” player in Lassana Coulibaly, says Steven Gerrard.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed to The Record that the “blessed” Lassana Coulibaly is making a big impression since joining.
The Mali international joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Angers earlier this month.
Coulibaly, 22, could make his Gers debut this evening after being granted international clearance, as Gerrard’s side take on Osijek in a Europa League qualifier in Croatia.
Umar Sadiq, the Roma-owned striker who joined at the same time as the powerful midfielder, has not travelled for the first leg, with Gerrard saying that he isn’t ready yet.
But the 38-year-old claims that Coulibaly is “cruising” through all of the pre-season work that he and his coaching staff have thrown at him in recent weeks.
“Lassana has pushed on very quickly. He’s blessed in terms of his physicality, power and natural fitness. He’s excelled since he’s landed and cruised through the fitness work we’ve given him, so he’s available.”
Going by Gerrard’s comments, Rangers might have an animal on their hands and it’ll be interesting to see whether he starts in Croatia tonight.
If he does, few would back against him making a big impact, based on his manager’s praise.
