Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers turned on the style for Steven Gerrard’s first game last night.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Steven Gerrard has hailed the Gers’ fanbase for their support during Friday’s demolition of Bury at Ibrox.
Gerrard got his reign at Rangers off to a flier as the Scottish giants thumped their English counterparts 6-0 in Glasgow last night.
Some 40,000 fans of the Ibrox club were in attendance to mark the legendary midfielder’s first game in charge since taking over from Graeme Murty in May.
And the 38-year-old has praised the supporters during a post-match interview with Rangers TV.
He said: “We got close to 40,000 or maybe just above which, for a friendly in the summer time, is an incredible turnout. We thank them for that.
“They were behind the team from start to finish and the boys responded to that. I said to them before the game that they had a responsibility to excite and enterain this crowd and that’s the responsibility of being a Rangers player.”

First-half goals from Jamie Murphy, Nikola Katic and Scott Arfield gave the Gers an unassailable 3-0 lead at the break, before Arfield, a summer signing from Burnley, added a fourth on 65 minutes.
But there was still time for Alfredo Morelos and teenage sensation Zak Rudden to put gloss on the scoreline and fans of the Scottish club will be delighted with what they saw last night.
Bigger tests lie ahead for the Blues, who host FK Shkupi on Thursday in a first-leg Europa League qualifier, but this will have raised morale suitably ahead of such a clash.
