Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side picked up a highly impressive win at Ibrox yesterday, although Nikola Katic did not start.

Gerrard actually opted to leave Katic out of Rangers’ starting line-up for their match against Feyenoord in the Europa League yesterday.
The Rangers boss feels that Katic’s main strength lies in his aerial ability, which was likely to be less crucial against a Feyenoord side who aim to keep the ball on the floor.
But Gerrard insisted his decision to bring Filip Helander into Rangers team was not a slight on Katic, who he still rates very highly.
“It’s just tactical,” Gerrard said.
“Niko is the type of defender who is last-ditch, anything aerial he’s a beast, he’s great in both boxes.”

Gerrard’s decision was proven correct, as Rangers picked up a 1-0 win at Ibrox last night.
Rangers were in impressive form yesterday, as Sheyi Ojo’s goal got them off to a great start in their group.
Rangers have been handed a tough task to progress, after being drawn against some strong sides, but their win over Feyenoord was highly encouraging.
Gerrard’s men’s next game comes against St. Johnstone, and it will be interesting to see whether Katic will come back into Rangers’ line-up.
