Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has told BT Sport that he feels sorry for West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble.

The former England international midfielder was not impressed with the West Ham fans booing Noble during the Premier League game against Liverpool at home on Saturday evening.

The 30-year-old central midfielder started the match and was substituted on 61 minutes, as the Hammers lost 4-1.

West Ham fans booed Noble during his time on the pitch at the London Stadium, and Gerrard was not pleased.

“I felt sorry for Mark Noble today,” Gerrard told BT Sport. “He is getting booed by his own fans. He showed unbelievable amount of loyalty to this team.

“He basically sacrificed his career for them. Okay, he might not be in great form, but I think it’s time that these fans show him support and some love and try to get behind him.”

Noble has been at West Ham his entire professional club football career so far and is a good central midfielder.

Like many of his teammates, the Englishman has not been in great form this season, and it is quite harsh of the fans to jeer him.

One can understand the fans’ frustrations and disappointment, but they need to keep faith in their players and must support them.

West Ham are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
