Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer, has stated that he decided to omit the former Liverpool youngster from his Europa League squad to manage his fitness.
The Rangers boss told The Daily Record about Rossiter: “We are looking for ways in which we can help him.
“We looked at his schedule in terms of training and games — that is why I left him out of the Europa League squad.
“We are focused on getting him back domestically and are determined not to push him too much in training.”

Injury issues
Rossiter joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
The former England Under-19 international has played only a handful of first-team appearances for Rangers so far in his career.
The 21-year-old midfielder, though, did make an appearance for Rangers on Wednesday evening.
The former Liverpool prospect – who earns £10,000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Mail – was in action for the Gers against Ayr United at Ibrox in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute in the 56th minute, as the Gers won 4-0.
