Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers managed to pick up three points under pressure against St. Mirren.
Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has suggested that he feels that his side’s match against St. Mirren is a preview of what lies ahead for the rest of the season.
Rangers won 2-0 against St. Mirren at the weekend, but they were given a huge test.
Gerrard’s side only found the back of the net late on, when Daniel Candeias looped the ball into the back of the net, and then Alfredo Morelos added a gloss to the scoreline in injury time.
Rangers had to be patient and show their willingness to battle until the end.
And Gerrard said to Rangers’ official Youtube channel: “I thought the players showed great patience and quality to stick with it and keep going and we got our rewards in the end.
“There’s going to be a lot of games like that in the future where we have to go hard for as long as we can and we might get our results deep into games.”
If Rangers are going to have to battle until the end, then the Ibrox crowd are going to have a task to stay with their side.
Rangers have raised expectations, and if they are not leading then the pressure will only mount of the team to score, as the minutes pass.
Rangers were under big pressure to win against St. Mirren, after a dip in their form recently.
Rangers had struggled domestically of late, but their form in Europe has been consistently good this term.
Rangers are due to take on Spartak Moscow this evening, knowing that a victory could put them into a commanding position to qualify.
Gerrard’s side have gone unbeaten in their first three matches in the Europa League, and three more points would leave them at the top of the group with just two matches to play.
