Rangers take on Kilmarnock at Ibrox this evening – but two players are definitely out.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official YouTube channel that Borna Barisic will be out for a couple more weeks – and Ovie Ejaria is likely to miss out against Kilmarnock tonight too.

The Gers lost 1-0 to Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup semi-final on Sunday, with Gerrard far from happy with his side’s disappointing performance at Hampden Park.

Fortunately for Rangers, they have a chance to quickly respond, as they host Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership tonight, with a win certainly needed after Sunday’s disappointment.

Gerrard is boosted by the return of strikers Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty tonight, but there are concerns about other players who may miss out.

Left back Borna Barisic has been missing since before the international break with an injury, and he was again out of the squad entirely for Sunday’s game.

Midfielder Ovie Ejaria picked up a knock ahead of tonight’s game, whilst striker Umar Sadiq was spotted training away from the first team alongside Gareth McAuley on Tuesday.

Now, Gerrard has told the club’s official YouTube channel that Barisic will be out for a couple of weeks whilst Ejaria is a major doubt for tonight, with neither set to face Kilmarnock.

Gerrard also cleared up the Sadiq situation, claiming there is no injury, but he just needs to do detailed fitness work having played his first 90 minutes of the season on Sunday.

“Still injured,” said Gerrard when asked about Barisic. “Yes, but he’ll be a couple of weeks, tops,” he added when asked if he had suffered a setback.

“[Sadiq’s] physical output on the weekend was huge in terms of running at high speed, it’s his first 90 minutes so we think he’ll take longer than normal because it’s his first 90, so it’s more for protection. Ovie Ejaria has a knock on his ankle so he is a doubt,” he added.
