Rangers will seemingly keep Joe Worrall at Ibrox for the rest of the season.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official YouTube channel that Joe Worrall will be staying at Ibrox until the end of the season.
The Gers took Worrall on a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest over the summer, bolstering Gerrard’s options in the heart of defence.
Rangers started out the season with Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic as their starting centre backs, but Worrall has now emerged as a first-choice option ahead of Katic.
Worrall impressed alongside Goldson in the recent Old Firm win over Celtic, but recent rumours have linked him with a return to Forest.
Martin O’Neill has come in as Forest’s new boss, and with a defensive crisis at the City Ground, it seems that they wanted Worrall back from his loan.
The Mirror report that Forest CEO Ioannis Vrentzos has made a request to Rangers about a deal to take Worrall back to the City Ground, but Rangers said no.
A deadline of January 7th for a recall has passed, and it’s now stated that all three parties – Forest, Rangers and Worrall himself – must agree to the loan being terminated, which won’t happen.
Now, Rangers boss Gerrard has confirmed that the Gers have spoken to Forest about the situation, and have a definitive decision that Worrall is staying at Ibrox until the end of the season.
