Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are 13 points off the pace in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
Liverpool legend Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, has revealed that he has also started planning for the summer and has identified the players he wants to bring in.
The former England international midfielder, though, has suggested that there will not be wholesale changes at Rangers this summer.
Gerrard told The Glasgow Evening Times: “We will wait and see how the next month or two look. The good thing for me is that we have already identified where we need to strengthen, the areas.”
“We have identified personnel in those areas, we have got a list, and depending on what happens and what is available will depend on how quick and who we go for.”
The Rangers boss added: “I don’t think it will be wholesale. When I came in, I came into a broken dressing room with cliques and problems and issues, so I felt it was very important to make a lot of changes and freshen it up to try and provide a base that we can build from and move forward.
“I think we have done that and achieved it, but it is very clear that now it is about quality. It is not about adding players for the sake of the squad, the squad is there.”

Competing with Celtic
Rangers were quite busy in the summer of 2018 and also made some good signings in the January transfer window, but the Gers have failed to give Celtic a run for their money.
The Hoops are 13 points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, and look set to clinch the league title for the eighth season in a row.
Rangers do need better players to challenge Celtic for the championship next season.
