Jermain Defoe is on loan at Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers at the moment.
Jermain Defoe of Rangers
The former Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Bournemouth could recall Defoe from his loan spell at Rangers in the summer transfer window.
The former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur striker joined Rangers on loan from Bournemouth on an 18-month loan deal in the January transfer window.
Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, has also disclosed that 36-year-old Defoe is coaching the young players.
Gerrard told The Scottish Sun about Defoe: “There’s options for Bournemouth to recall Jermain at the end of the season, even though it’s an 18-month loan, but everyone’s winning at the moment.
“Bournemouth are winning because Jermain’s happy and he’s playing games. Jermain’s winning because he’s loving it here.
“We’re loving having him here because not only do we have a top striker but an incredible person in and around the place.
“After training he stays behind with the young lads for shooting sessions as a coach, giving tips.
“His attitude and application whether he plays two minutes, ten or 90 has been impeccable. Jermain’s a guy I want here next season to move us forward.”

Rangers spell
Much was expected of Defoe when he arrived at Rangers in the January transfer window, but the striker has not been able to make a huge impact at Ibrox so far.
The striker has made five starts and six substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers so far this season, scoring six goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
A good pre-season with the Rangers squad in the summer could make Defoe more prepared for life in Scottish football next season.
