Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told The Scottish Sun that he is glad to have moved past rumours linking Ryan Kent with Leeds United.
The Gers are back in action this evening, as they host Polish side Lech Poznan in their second Europa League group stage game.
After beating Standard Liege 2-0 last week, Rangers are now looking for another win, and Kent will likely play a key role.
The 23-year-old has been in superb form this season, racking up five goals and five assists in 10 games across all competitions.
That’s already more assists than last season and just three goals short of his tally from last term, showing huge improvement in his game.
Kent is virtually undroppable right now, and Rangers certainly made the decision to reject Leeds United’s moves for him over the summer.
The Sun reported in August that Leeds made a £10million bid for Kent, and then that Leeds still wanted him as a backup target behind Daniel James.
Leeds signed Raphinha from Rennes instead, and Steven Gerrard is now glad that the ‘noise’ surrounding a move to Elland Road has now gone, and is looking forward to working with him at Ibrox for some time now.
“He’s playing a lot of games at the moment and I need to try and look after him, to make sure we can keep him in this vein of form,” said Gerrard. “We’re delighted with him here and he’s happy and settled.”
“We’re away from the noise that was around him a few weeks back and we’re looking forward to working with him here for a long time,” he added.
