Rangers are seeing Greg Docherty thrive away from Ibrox.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official YouTube channel that he is aware of Greg Docherty’s continued success with Shrewsbury Town – and the club are looking to appoint a loan manager imminently.
The Gers brought in the likes of Scott Arfield, Lassana Coulibaly and Ovie Ejaria over the summer, with Gerrard bolstering his options in midfield, but that ultimately pushed Docherty out of the picture.
A January signing from Hamilton Academical, Docherty starred for the Accies in the first half of last season, tempting Graeme Murty into luring him to Ibrox for a fee of around £650,000.
Docherty grew up supporting Rangers, making a move to Ibrox something of a dream come true, and he showed real promise early into his time with the club before Gerrard’s appointment.
It quickly became clear that Docherty would struggle for playing time with so many midfielders at Gerrard’s disposal, and the Gers allowed him to go out on loan to English League One side Shrewsbury Town for the season.
Docherty should still have a role with Rangers going forward, and his case has been strengthened by some fine form for the Shrews, as his goal in the 3-1 home win over Barnsley on Tuesday night was his fourth in just 13 games.

Gerrard has now been asked about the chance of recalling Docherty in January, and admitted that he and the club are aware of his form, but no decisions on loan players have been made just yet, with reviews coming in the near future.
Gerrard did though reveal that Rangers are looking to appoint a ‘loan manager’ imminently, with the process ongoing right now as the Gers look to bring in somebody to oversee all the players loaned out of Ibrox.
“We haven’t had the conversation in terms of our loan players, but that will be happening in the coming weeks, in terms of getting reports together on how they’ve done,” said Gerrard. “We’re aware that Greg is shining, we sent Andy Scoulding to watch him yesterday.”
“We’re also in the process of having a loan manager within the setup as well, who basically follows our loan players all the time, and is in touch with them on a daily basis, so we know what they’re eating, we know when they’re sleeping, we know what they’re doing on and off the field, and we make sure that we collaborate every single match report on our loan players because they’re ours, and they belong to us. That’s happening as we speak,” he added.
