Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers nearly had a perfect start under Steven Gerrard on domestic duty.

Steven Gerrard has told Sky Sports that his Rangers side were unlucky not to get all three points in this afternoon’s visit to Aberdeen.
Rangers looked on course for an opening-day win under new manager Gerrard when James Tavernier’s first-half penalty proved the difference between both sides for so much of the game.
Tavernier’s penalty on the half-hour mark came after Alfredo Morelos was issued a straight red card for kicking out at Scott McKenna on 18 minutes.
But Bruce Anderson grabbed a stoppage-time winner to spare the Dons’ blushes and earn a point for Derek McInnes’s side.
He told Sky Sports: “I actually thought we were better with 10 men so I just said ‘carry on doing what you’re doing and when we get the chance go and hurt them again’.
“I just thought maybe if the final pass was better on two or three occasions then we might’ve got another goal, but anybody who watched that game today knows that we were much better than Aberdeen today.”
The Gers certainly showed plenty of heart to come so close to winning at Aberdeen in spite of their numerical disadvantage.
It might well feel like a defeat for Gerrard and everyone affiliated with the Gers, but when the smoke settles it’ll become obvious that the iconic midfielder knows what he is doing and there is plenty of cause for excitement in spite of the result.
