Glasgow Rangers left-back Lee Wallace is out of contract at Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club next summer.

Wallace has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2011 when he joined from Heart of Midlothian for a transfer fee reported by The Scotsman to be worth £1.5 million.
The 31-year-old left-back – who is out of contract at Rangers in the summer of 2019, according to Transfermarkt.com – has struggled for playing time so far this season.
The Scotland international came on as a substitute for the injured Borna Barisic in the 41st minute in the Gers’ 2-1 win against St. Johnstone away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
Rangers manager Gerrard has suggested that the future of Wallace is in his own hands.

Gerrard told The Scottish Sun when asked about Wallace’s future: “Well, it’s down to Lee. Obviously he’s contracted here until the end of the season. Lee knows quite clear. Our chats that we’ve had will remain private.”
The Rangers manager added: “It all depends on how much football he wants to play. But Borna Barisic is our first-choice left back.
“I’ve made that clear to Lee. I think I made that clear by the amount of money I paid for him.
“So it’s down to Lee. If Lee wants to be a squad player and keep pushing for places in the 18 – it’s his decision really rather than mine. But he knows quite clearly my views on it.”
Leaving Rangers
Gerrard’s aforementioned comments suggest that he does not consider Wallace as an important player in his team, and it will make sense for the left-back to find a club in January or next summer where he will be able to play regularly.
