Glasgow Rangers Steven Gerrard admits he was shocked that his side even took the lead against Kilmarnock last night.

Rangers raced into a 1-0 lead at Ibrox when Alfredo Morelos burst clear and scored.

But Gerrard felt that Rangers were off the pace from kick off.

And he was stunned when Rangers actually did make the breakthrough, as he felt his side didn’t even deserve that goal.

“It wasn’t a good performance,” Gerrard said to the club’s official Twitter account.

“We got ourselves in front, somehow – I don’t know how. I thought that would have given us a big lift but it never. We were slow and sluggish all throughout the pitch.”

Kilmarnock hit back quickly after falling behind, and Rangers never restored their advantage again.

In truth, Rangers never really carried much of a threat, with Killie able to deal with them fairly comfortably.

Rangers have now put in two seriously disappointing performances in a row, to ramp up the pressure on Gerrard and his players.

Rangers are currently in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table, with their next match coming against St. Mirren at the weekend.
