The Gers got the better of East Fife 3-0 away from home in the second round of the Scottish League Cup.
Jermain Defoe, Filip Helander and Joe Aribo scored the goals for Steven Gerrard’s side.
It was a debut for Helander, with the 26-year-old defender having joined Rangers from Bologna in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £3.5 million.
The Sweden international did well at the back for Rangers and also scored in the 56th minute.
Rangers boss Gerrard was pleased with the display produced by the former Malmo FF and Verona star.
Gerrard told Rangers’ official website about Helander: “Fil came in late, and we have been trying to get him up to speed and I thought he was very professional today, played really well, had a hand in the second goal and got a clean sheet so there are a lot of positives from his performance.”

Positive result
Rangers were not exactly great against East Fife, and the conditions were quite hard for the players.
The Gers did get the job done, and the Ibrox faithful will be happy with the win at the end of the day.
