Steven Gerrard claims there’s only one word to describe West Ham United’s display against Liverpool

West Ham United were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool at the London Stadium yesterday.

Steven Gerrard has told BT Sport that the only word he could find to describe West Ham United’s performance against Liverpool was ‘awful’.

West Ham were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool yesterday and, aside from a brief spell in second half, Slaven Bilic’s side were woeful.

The Hammers’ defence was all over the place, as Liverpool cut through them time after time.

West Ham, particularly in the first half, appeared to show no passion and simply meekly surrendered, as Jurgen Klopp’s side raced into a 2-0 lead.

Even though Manuel Lanzini did pull one back for West Ham after the break, goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mohamed Salah quickly ended any hope of a comeback occurring.

And Gerrard let rip at West Ham’s display. The Liverpool legend said: “Awful. There’s only one word to sum it up. There’s no heart, passion or desire.”

Bilic is now hanging on by a thread at the London Stadium, with the West Ham boss under serious pressure.

The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, with their poor form showing no signs of coming to an end.
