Steven Gerrard has written Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal off in the race for the Premier League title.

Steven Gerrard has told Premier League Tonight, which was broadcast on BT Sport on 31st January, that he believes Tottenham Hotspur cannot win the title this season.

Spurs are currently Chelsea’s closest challengers in the Premier League, but they do sit nine points behind their London rivals.

Harry Redknapp predicts who will finish higher this season: Spurs or Arsenal

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that he hasn’t given up on catching the Blues, but Gerrard believes that Chelsea will win the league at a canter.

Gerrard argues that Spurs have the same problem as Arsenal and Liverpool, in the sense that they have a tendency to struggle to consistently win when the pressure is on.

“The reason why Chelsea will walk away with the title is because Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal all have that result [like Arsenal’s defeat to Watford] in their locker,” Gerrard said.

Arsenal were shockingly beaten at home by Watford in midweek, and almost every other result from this round of Premier League matches went in Chelsea’s favour.

Manchester City were the only team in the top six to pick up a victory, as Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United all missed their chance to close the gap on the league leaders.

Spurs could only muster up a 0-0 draw with Sunderland, while Manchester United couldn’t get past Hull City at home.

Chelsea are next in action against Arsenal at the weekend, while Tottenham take on Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane.
