Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard made Allan McGregor his number one at the start of the season.

Rangers have had a very demanding schedule, as they have been competing on so many different fronts.
Rangers’ European schedule means that they are playing three games in a week repeatedly.
And those demands mean that Gerrard’s squad is being tested.
McGregor, in particular, has reached an age now where those demands can be difficult.
But the 36-year-old was brought back into Rangers’ starting line-up against St. Mirren yesterday, and he showed his quality.

McGregor helped Rangers pick up a 2-0 victory, and Gerrard was full of praise for the stopper after the match.
“He’s been absolutely magnificent from day one,” Gerrard said.
“It’s my responsibility to try and help Allan with his age and the amount of games we’ve got. I need to try and help him in terms of his body, so his fresh and is right at it. I thought he was excellent today.”
Rangers’ latest victory has pushed them up to third place in the Premier League table.
