Rangers boss Steven Gerrard defends Joe Worrall.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official website he regards Joe Worrall’s error as ‘uncharacteristic’.
Worrall gave the ball away for Kilmarnock’s equalising goal, allowing the home side a way back into the game after Jermain Defoe’s close range opener.
Rangers lost the game 2-1 with Jordan Jones scoring the winning goal.
Gerrard told Rangers’ website that he was disappointed with Worrall’s error and believes it cost the team three points.
He said: “It was the message before the game and the message we gave loud and clear before the game – no square passes on this pitch.
“It’s very uncharacteristic from Joe to do that, but that moment has had a huge effect on everyone across the pitch and it also had an effect on the atmosphere in the stands as before that, it looked like there was only one team out there.”

Worrall’s mistake infuriated supporters and put him back to square one after he had won them over late in 2018.
Now calls are growing for Nikola Katic to be given another chance, and manager Steven Gerrard has a big decision to make ahead of Rangers’ next fixture away to Livingston.
