Steven Fletcher has opened up on Scott Brown’s career as a striker.
Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher has told Open Goal that he can’t believe Celtic’s Scott Brown is still a holding midfielder having been a striker with him at Hibernian.
The Bhoys have won another league title, their eighth in a row, and are also closing in on a third straight domestic treble.
Brown has been a key part of all of those title wins, captaining the side to all eight of those successive title wins whilst becoming the heartbeat of the Celtic side.
Brown, now 33, joined Celtic from Hibernian way back in August 2007, and he has now racked up more than 500 appearances for Celtic.
The talismanic midfielder has earned a reputation as a real battle in midfield, a leader to his teammates and a real wind-up merchant – just ask Alfredo Morelos.
Now, Scotland international Fletcher has given his views on Brown, revealing that he was actually a striker at Hibernian, playing as his striker partner.
Fletcher admitted that he’s stunned Brown is ‘still there’ in holding midfield, noting that he was never a sitting midfielder in his life in his early days at Hibernian, believing he was a good striker – and feels that Brown has actually calmed down over the years.
“Broony was just Broony,” said Fletcher. “He was a striker, he was my strike partner. He was never a sitting midfielder in his life! I can’t believe he’s still there! He was good. Aye [he was mad], he was worse then and he’s calmed down now,” he added.
