Steven Davis’s return to Rangers will end in frustration with Steven Gerrard’s side ten points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table.

Steven Davis believes a lack of consistency has cost Rangers the chance to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title this season, in quotes reported by the Daily Record.
Heading into the final stretch of the campaign, Steven Gerrard’s Gers are 10 points adrift of their Old Firm rivals at the top of the table. This is a far cry from their position at the turn of the year, when a deserved 1-0 win against Celtic at Ibrox appeared to announce Rangers as genuine challengers for The Hoops’ crown.
They have won just five of their nine league games since the turn of the year, a disappointing run which has allowed Celtic to pull clear at the top again with an eighth successive Premiership crown within their sights.
And Davis believes it is this inconsistent form which has cost his club dear.
“The problem for us is that we haven’t shown the level of consistency this season that is required and haven’t managed to put a run of results together which was needed to put the pressure onto Celtic,” said the veteran midfielder, who returned for a second spell at Ibrox in January from Southampton.

Rangers can reduce the gap at the top of the table to seven points with a win at Parkhead after the international break but that is easier said than done.
Rangers have not won in the home of the enemy since Nikica Jelavic scored an injury-time winner in the 2011 League Cup final.
