Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno has told Football.London that Steven Bergwijn struggled in the second half against Vitesse tonight.
What’s the story?
Tottenham suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Vitesse away from home in the Netherlands this evening.
The Dutch club scored in the second half of the Europa Conference League Group G game.
Maximilian Wittek found the back of the net in the 78th minute with a volley from the edge of the penalty area.
Nuno’s verdict
Bergwijn started the match on the left and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Tottenham head coach Nuno has said that the 24-year-old winger – who earns £73,077 per week as salary, according to Spotrac – dropped his levels in the second half.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss has said that the Netherlands international still needs to reach his full match fitness.
Nuno told Football.London about Bergwijn: “He needs to get back to levels of fitness. He was more involved in the first half.
“Second half naturally he dropped a little bit, but this is what we need for the players to be on the pitch to get the best fitness levels possible.”

More to come from Steven Bergwijn
Bergwijn was disappointing against Vitesse, but we cannot just single him out.
A number of Spurs players, including Harry Winks and Dele Alli, struggled.
What we have to remember about the winger is that he has only just come back from injury.
It does take players to get back to full match fitness.
We know that the 24-year-old is a very good winger.
And, in our view, we will see the best of Bergwijn soon.
