Sergio Reguilon has sealed a loan move to Atletico Madrid from Tottenham after being ostracised from training by Antonio Conte – plenty have given their reaction to the move, such as Steven Bergwijn, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil.

Reguilon, 25, joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020. But since then, he has only managed 67 outings for the North London club. Conte has brought in Ivan Perisic this summer, on a free transfer from Inter Milan.

It comes after Reguilon has been dropped for Sessegnon towards the end of last season. Despite the 3-4-3 system being seemingly ready-made for Reguilon, he failed to produce under Conte. He was one of four ousted from training.

Harry Winks has joined Italian side Sampdoria on a loan-to-buy deal, and Tanguy Ndombele has gone to Napoli. Again, Napoli will have a permanent clause. Gio Lo Celso, like Reguilon, leaves on a dry loan – joining Villarreal.

Reguilon took to Instagram to underline his delight at leaving Tottenham on loan and returning to Madrid. Albeit, with his boyhood club’s neighbours in Atletico. He replaces Renan Lodi, who has left Atleti to join Nottingham Forest.

Reguilon loan to Atletico: Bergwijn and Sessegnon reaction

It sees Tottenham continue to clear the decks. Albeit, without bringing in much cash for their out-of-favour players. Indeed, the only players to bring in a permanent fee have been Bergwijn and Cameron Carter-Vickers, joining Celtic.

However, it might prove that next summer, Spurs bring in plenty more cash. Ndombele and Winks could rake in the best part of £50million if their loan clauses are activated. If Reguilon and Lo Celso impress, they could also be sold.

Plenty responded to the news that Reguilon has left Spurs to join Atletico Madrid – including Bergwijn and Sessegnon. They wished the left-back well as he looks to resurrect his career under Diego Simeone.
