Everton have been extremely busy during the last two transfer windows.

Steve Walsh assistant manager of Leicester City looks on prior to the Barclays Premier League match between Leicester City and Southampton at The King Power Stadium on April 3, 2016 in...

Toffees Director of Football Steve Walsh spoke to reporters after the club’s annual general meeting yesterday, and opened up on how both he and Sam Allardyce work together when lining up specific transfer targets, as quoted by the Daily Post.

Everton have spent heavily over the past six months on acquiring new talent including the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen, Wayne Rooney, and most recently Cenk Tosun.

The Blues began their 2017/18 in woeful fashion, but Allardyce has steadied the ship since taking the reigns at Goodison Park, guiding his side to a consistent run of form that has seen them climb to ninth position in the Premier League table.

Most Everton fans are still optimistic about their side’s hopes of success this term, because after-all, they have plenty of talented players amongst the squad.

And when speaking to reporters, Walsh explained the process that takes place before any signing is made by the club, as quoted by the Daily Post:

Steve Walsh, assistant manager celebrates on stage during the Leicester City Barclays Premier League Winners Bus Parade on May 16, 2016 in Leicester, England.

“It’s a bit like a marriage in some ways. At some stage there has to be some sort of compromise between the two of you. The system we’ve got at the club is both the director of football and the manager have to sign that player off so for that progress to be made a compromise has to be made and it’s a case of, maybe, the manager taking the lead or the director of football taking the lead and who is most passionate about getting that signing over the line. It’s about bringing that together. But ultimately, if one of us says completely no then that’s got to be a no.”

It is unclear whether the Blues plan on making any more new additions this month, but with the club’s ambitious majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri at the helm, it would be no surprise at all to see the Merseysiders dip back into the transfer market before the end of January.
