The 17-year-old is reportedly on his way to Everton as Steve Walsh attempts to delve into the South American market.

Much was expected of Steve Walsh when he was appointed as Everton’s new Director of Football in the summer. In fact, a behind-the-scenes appointment has rarely elicited such excitement although, when you consider that the renowned talent-spotter acted as the brains behind last season’s remarkable Leicester City operation, you can see why his arrival at Goodison Park was greeted with anticipation.
And, according to the Liverpool Echo, Walsh is already laying out his long-term plans to help Everton bridge the gap to the traditional elite.
“Most of the players in the Premier League, or a great percentage, are foreign players so it is important we have all the major leagues in Europe covered,” he said.
“We also try to do a bit in South America as well.”
Everton’s forays into the South American market have not gone particularly well in recent years. Denis Stracqualursi, three goals in 27, is the very definition of an ironic cult hero.

However, in 17-year-old wonderkid Caio Emerson, Everton may have already begun to benefit from their extensive scouting system put in place since Walsh’s arrival.
The talented youngster’s agent suggested to Sport Witness that his client will move to Goodison Park when he turns 18 and it is believed that they will pay just £250,000 in a compensation fee for a teenager who had also been linked with Barcelona and Liverpool.
This, then, appears quite a coup. And with Walsh at the helm, Everton can expect more where that came from.
