Ben Brereton joined Blackburn Rovers on loan from Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window.
Rovers signed Brereton from Championship rivals Forest on loan in the summer transfer window.
According to The Lancashire Telegraph, that loan deal will become permanent in January for a transfer fee of £7 million.
Blackburn CEO Waggott has confirmed that Rovers plan to make Brereton’s switch from Forest permanent and has also praised the 19-year-old striker.
Waggott told The Lancashire Telegraph about Brereton: “It was a big commitment from the club.
“He was a player that Tony (Mowbray), Mark Venus, and the recruitment department, which we are investing heavily in as we should do to turn that department upside down and give major funding to, identified Ben as one of the best young talents out there.
“It was a matter of whether we could get him in among other clubs who wanted him. With the tweaking of the window, it had to be a loan deal, but we are looking in January to make that permanent.”
Promising talent
Brereton is a very talented and promising young striker who has a bright future, and it would be wise of Blackburn to sign the Forest-owned youngster on a permanent contract in the January transfer window.
The teenager scored five goals and provided two assists in 25 Championship starts for Forest last season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2016-17 campaign, the 19-year-old striker scored three goals and provided three assists in 13 league starts for the Reds, according to WhoScored.
