Clipper Logistics will be sponsoring the East Stand at Elland Road.
Leeds United will have a new sponsor of their East Stand for next season and the company sponsoring the stand will certainly be of interest to takeover rumour flame-stokers.
This is the picture released by the official Leeds United Twitter account yesterday, showing Clipper Logistics as the new sponsors of the East Stand:
Of course the sponsorship is no surprise.
Leeds United announced the deal in March on their official website. The Leeds-based company’s founder and Executive Chairman Steve Parkin told the Leeds website:
“As a lifelong Leeds fan, I’m delighted to have the business I’ve built over the past two decades become a sponsor of the club.
“It will expose the Clipper name to a global audience, as we continue to grow as a business and help shape the future of retail logistics. This association is a great partnership between Clipper and Leeds United, and I look forward to seeing it flourish.”
As Parkin stated he is a lifelong Leeds fan and, in the past, has been heavily linked with a takeover of Massimo Cellino at Leeds United.
In November last year the Mirror reported that the maverick Italian was ready to sell the club to the Leeds businessman in a reported £30 million takeover.
They even quoted Cellino as stating:
In February the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Parkin had become a regular in the director’s box at Elland Road this season and that he had already tried to buy the club a decade ago.
Now Parkin has certainly made a mark at Leeds through his company and sponsorship. Many a Leeds fan will still be hoping to see him takeover from Cellino in the near future.
