The Crystal Palace chairman is full of praise for the goalkeeper.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has paid tribute to Julian Speroni on Twitter after the goalkeeper’s latest comments on the club’s official website.

Parish is delighted with the fact Speroni calls himself a Crystal Palace fan and has praised the 35-year-old for sticking by the south London club through thick and thin.

The Eagles shot stopper has played in every one of Palace’s Premier League games so far this term.

And, as Opta stats show, Speroni has made almost 100 saves this season, although that’s less than seven other top-flight goalkeepers.

He’s been helped, no doubt, by an able Crystal Palace back four and steely midfield, while the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Burnley and Sunderland will simply have faced more shots.

The 35-year-old, however, has been a crucial part of the Eagles’ campaign and his experience has helped Palace at key times this season. No wonder Parish is keen to praise his loyalty.

The south London club host Manchester United at Selhurst Park during Saturday’s evening kick-off, where Speroni likely fancy his chances of keeping a clean sheet against a side that haven’t scored in their last three Premier League fixtures.
