Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season.

Steve Nicol has told ESPN FC that Liverpool have no chance of winning the Premier League title next season with the current squad.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season and stand a chance of progressing to the group stage of the Champions League during the 2017-18 campaign.

The Merseyside outfit have made two signings so far in the summer transfer window. The Reds have recruited winger Mohamed Salah from AS Roma and striker Dominic Solanke on a free transfer this summer.

Liverpool legend Nicol has said that with the current squad the Reds have no chance of winning the Premier League title next season.

Nicol told ESPN FC when asked about the chances of Liverpool winning the Premier League with their current back four and goalkeepers: “How quickly do you want an answer? No chance.”

“Right now with the same squad – they have added Salah – try and get into the top four again,” added Nicol when asked about what his expectations of Liverpool at the moment.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all have better squads than Liverpool at the moment, and that is not going to change next season even if Jurgen Klopp’s side make more signings in the summer transfer window.

Just like during the 2016-17 campaign, the Reds’ main objective next season should be to finish in the top four of the Premier League again and not challenge for the title.
