Liverpool have been linked with a move for Naby Keita.

Former Liverpool player and club legend Steve Nicol suggests that the Reds must do everything they can to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the prime targets for Jurgen Klopp, but Leipzig are reluctant to part ways with their star player.

According to reports from The Express, Liverpool have had a £57 million bid rejected for the Guinea international already.

However, Klopp is so keen to sign him up that Liverpool are preparing a second offer of £65 million for the young midfielder.

Nicol, who won five league titles at Anfield in a 13-year spell, says that he doesn’t care about the transfer fee. All he wants to see is the Reds getting a deal done for the player because he is a top talent who would add significant quality to the side.

He says Keita, who has 25-international cap so far, has the potential to become a superstar, and he has no doubt that the Leipzig star will make Liverpool a better team.

“Forget about the money, I’ve forgotten about the money,” Nicol said on ESPN FC. Just sign the guy, forget the money now. It doesn’t matter.”

“The guy makes Liverpool better no question. He’s young, he could be a superstar, just go and sign him. I don’t care about the money anymore.”

Liverpool have made two signings so far in the transfer window, with young striker Dominic Solanke joining from Chelsea and Mohamed Salah from Roma.
