The Liverpool legend says Joe Hart to Everton will happen.
Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has told ESPN that Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is more likely to end up at Everton rather than his former club.
The 29-year-old is expected to leave the club this month after manager Pep Guardiola omitted him from City’s first two Premier League games of the season.
The Sun reported this weekend that Everton are planning to submit an offer for the England keeper this week, while Liverpool – who have already signed two shot-stoppers this summer in Loris Karius and Alex Manninger – have been urged by various pundits to make a move for him, including Jamie Carragher.
But another Reds legend does not see a switch to Anfield materialising, noting Karius’s arrival as a big factor, but Nicol does believe that the Toffees should consider a swoop.
Asked by ESPN if Hart could end up on the red half or the blue half of Merseyside, Nicol responded: “I don’t see it being the red half. In my opinion Klopp sound Karius to be number one. He’s not going to sign Joe Hart.
“It does make sense for me that Joe Hart would go to Everton. This is going to happen.”
Everton have two capable goalkeepers in Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg, but the feeling on the blue half of Merseyside is that they are a club with big ambitions and are either of those good enough to be their long-term keeper? Perhaps not.
Hart has his moments too, but for the most part he is an excellent goalkeeper and signing him would be a big, big statement by Everton boss Ronald Koeman.
