Neves has been linked with a move from Wolves to Juventus.
Steve Nicol has told ESPN that he reckons Italian champions Juventus will complete a deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves in the January transfer window.
Still only 21 years of age, Neves is one of the brightest talents in the Premier League. He left Porto to join Wolves in the summer of 2016 after clocking up 93 appearances for the Portuguese giants, and now has 57 outings with Wolves.
A nine-time Portugal international, Neves has a reputation for scoring wonder goals from long range, which included an array of strikes as Wolves gained promotion from the Championship last season.
This time around, Neves has scored goals against Everton and Tottenham, as he continues to show the kind of potential that suggests he could become one of the best midfielders in the world. Liverpool legend Nicol reckons he will join Juve.
“This makes sense for me,” Nicol said. “21 years old, great future ahead of him, already a great player. He’s doing fantastic things in the Premier League with Wolves. You look at Juventus, the likes of Sami Khedira – he’s over 30 now.
“So I think this would make sense, Neves is a great player. I think it is possible, if the money is right. He’s capable of doing it for Juventus.”
Juve have been constantly linked with a move for Neves ahead of the January transfer window, with Italian outlet CalcioMercato claiming Juve are willing to match the midfielder’s release clause of £36million.
Neves’ agent is the widely-renowned Jorge Mendes who has connections with Wolves, but is also used by Juventus and the Italians’ power may convince him to strike a deal. Chelsea and Liverpool are also said to have contacted Mendes.
