Celtic have once again asserted their dominance over Rangers this season, despite Steven Gerrard’s arrival at Ibrox last summer.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

ESPN pundit Steve Nicol suggested that Celtic’s spending power will make things twice as hard for Rangers in the summer transfer market, whilst predicting that the Hoops will win 10 straight titles, when speaking exclusively to ESPN FC.

Celtic are on course to win their eighth consecutive league title this season, but Rangers have undoubtedly closed the gap under Steven Gerrard, and the Gers will be desperate to prevent their bitter rivals from making it nine in a row next term.

The Hoops need just one more point to secure the league title in their final three games, and once that is achieved, as it inevitably will be, their focus will shift to next season.

Rangers will surely be looking to spend big this summer, in order to close the gap on Celtic even further still, but Nicol highlighted why Gerrard will have his wok cut-out, when speaking exclusively to ESPN FC:

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“I expect this summer Rangers to go and make more signings. The only way Celtic can combat that is to go and do the same themselves. The fact that Celtic do have the finances over Rangers means they will go out and strengthen and that will make it twice as hard for Rangers.”

He then went on to respond when asked whether Celtic will go on to win 10 straight titles over the next couple of years:

“I don’t think I could bet against that. I would have to say right now, yes, I think they will.”

Gerrard has a lot of work to do at Rangers this summer, but if Celtic go on to strengthen as well, it might just be more of the same next season as far as the title race is concerned.
